I am not sure if you are the right person to ask but do you think noprops could be contacted and asked if an english translation for the Ao Oni Novel is possible? I am not quite sure noprops would be the one to ask for that but I don`t know who else to contact. I don`t know any japanese but I ran a message through google translate:
I'm not actually sure if she has power. I doubt it, really.
She's just the co-author, not the publishing company. Translating and printing in English would cost a lot of money, and unless the publishers are sure there's a big enough market and that they'd sell enough copies in America, they won't do it. Even if it was just noprops' friend that was translating it, the company woud still have to hire and pay him for legal reasons. And that stuff is not cheap.
Well for a bookstore to stock a book, they've got to beleive that there's a significant interest. Unfortunately, aside from watching videos online, there's no substantial evidence of an Ao oni fad here in the states. Playing free games online doesn't equate to selling hundreds of books for bookstore management, and they're probably right. I doubt it would sell very well over here. Not well enough to be worth the thousands of dollars in deals and orders.
If we do get a fan translation, then horray! You can go bug vgperson and send him a copy if you like. The past couple weeks he's been translating chapters of the witch's house novel that just came out.
I emailed noprops (she gives contact info on her site) and asked about the Novel Translation and Version 7 or above. She said that none of those things were going to come (I got this info vvia Google Translate, so it may be incorrect in some parts).
That's pretty funny. She sounds irritated. I tried contacting her almost two years ago but not in Japanese. I believe the convo, but I don't know what it means, since there's been some tweets that show she has more ao oni related plans. Maybe she changed her mind and lost interest in the series. Who knows
